Kalakar Arts UK was founded by Chandra Chakraborty, an eminent Hindustani Classical Vocalist hailing from the Kirana Gharana. Ex Scholar Of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, National Scholar and Gold Medalist from All India Radio, Chandra was raised by Maestro Pandit A Kanan and Vidushi Malabika Kanan. Later, Chandra has also learnt from Padmabibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi.

Kalakar Arts UK aims to:
  • Support new and emerging artists by providing a prestigious platform
  • Kalakar promotes and works to restore lost heritage of South Asian Music.
  • As an organisation, Kalakar trains volunteers who have a keen interest not just in music but also skills such as organising an event, costume design, pre-production planning and execution, working with venues, designing publicity materials and taking on other relevant administration work.
  • Organise world class concerts involving famous musicians from around the world
  • Conduct music research work for Indian traditional music
  • Organise workshops for British born students to enable them to stay connected to their routes
  • Kalakar Arts UK provides free Classical Music, Dance and Instrumental teaching to underprivileged children up to age of 16 in the rural villages of India, through Pandit A Kanan music foundation. The foundation also organises regular master classes in these villages. Weekly classes will be held at Behala (Sri Aurobindo Society, Behala Arcadia. Foundation’s head Office), Dasagram, Khejurdaha and Jhargram from 1st April 2023.
